Synapse Medicine Earns Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances Certification for Prescribing Applications from DirectTrust®

Certification ensures adherence to data processing standards and compliance with security infrastructure and integrity requirements for all e-Prescribing transactions

NEW YORK, NY – October 20th, 2026

‍

Synapse Medicine, the global digital health organization behind the AI-native e-prescribing platform Synapse Prescribe, announced today it has been certified with the Prescribing of Controlled Substances Certification Program for Prescribing Applications (EPCS-Prescribing) from DirectTrust®. The program is approved by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and demonstrates the operational integrity of companies that use e-Prescribing by affirming compliance with industry regulations and all necessary standards for transaction timeliness, security and privacy with new prescriptions and renewals.

‍

“Compliance with industry regulations and all necessary standards is crucial as the government issues new initiatives and incentive programs, along with the industry’s desire to address rising healthcare costs,” said Scott Stuewe, President and CEO, DirectTrust. “

‍

This certification is a significant achievement for Synapse Medicine as they are ensuring full confidence in the integrity of their e-Prescribing system and processes at a time when, issues related to privacy, security and confidentiality continue to top the list of concerns for solution providers and their customers.”

‍

Synapse Prescribe has been EPCS-certified since October 2020. This year’s review covered the full scope of DEA requirements, from company-wide privacy and security policies to the technical architecture of the platform, and closed with no corrective action required. For our partners, that removes a risk they can’t afford: a prescribing platform that fails its audit and must be pulled from controlled-substance prescribing within days.

‍

“Compliance is demanding work, and it should never become a reason to stop improving. Every two years, this certification mobilizes our leadership, compliance, product and engineering teams for months. We do that work so the clinicians who prescribe with Synapse, and the patients they care for, can rely on a foundation that is independently verified,” said Clément Goehrs, CEO of Synapse Medicine.

‍

DirectTrust’s accreditation and certification programs are governed by the organization’s Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). Through DirectTrust’s comprehensive third-party review, Synapse Medicine’s electronic prescribing transactions were evaluated in the areas of confidentiality enforcement, level-of-service and escalation procedures, outcome-related metrics, security infrastructures and the ability to comply with industry-standard data formats. The thorough certification process demonstrates compliance with stringent DEA regulations and adherence to strict standards and participation in the comprehensive, objective evaluation of the organization’s business.
